Projects
Recycling Cans
The Sustainability Captains (EcoMarine Ambassadors) and
support crew twice a week collect cans from our school community. The class who
recycles the most cans each term receives a prize. The money raised from the cans
is used for other projects in the school that promote the care of our
environment.
Garden club
Our school garden club operates before school on a Wednesday and Thursday morning from 8.00 am to 8.45 am. The club involves very enthusiastic students and is run by equally enthusiastic parents. They have been busy transforming areas of our school as well as growing produce for the tuckshop and for sale to parents and staff.
Our garden club was recently recognised in the Brisbane City Council sustainability showcase awards and was runner up in the little steps category.
Primary Tangalooma EcoMarine Ambassadors and Support Crew
Our Sustainability Captains are proud members of the Tangalooma Primary EcoMarines. Their mission is to promote the care of our environment and the local marine life of Moreton Bay. Each year they have the opportunity to attend different community events where they learn about the importance of caring for our environment and they help to spread the word within our school community.
Along with their valued support crew they organise and participate in different school projects to highlight the importance of caring for our environment. These include: Clean Up Australia Day, Turn to Tap Competition, Wrapper Free Wednesday Lunch promotion to reduce the waste in our school, Recycling of can, Bin It To Win It – Tidiest Area Weekly Awards.
